When you are complaining about things that are bothering you or that you don’t like, listen to yourself. Use those complaints as a great opportunity!
When we complain, we let ourselves know what we don’t want. When we know what we don’t want, we can say ok I don’t want this. What do I want? Sounds easy enough! But sometimes it can be a real challenge. We may need practice in honoring ourselves enough to figure out what pleases us or what makes us happy. When we know what we do want, we can bring more of that into our lives. That really works much better than complaining.
When there doesn't seem to be any simple solutions, Eckhart Tolle suggests in the Power of Now: “If you find you're here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally. If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must choose one of those three options, and you must choose now. Then accept the consequences. No excuses, no negativity. No psychic pollution. Keep your inner space clear.”
Listening to ourselves express our fears, dislikes and general complaints gives us a great opportunity. We listen and then gently pivot our thoughts to creating what we do want instead. We will also find that when our inner space is clear, we are open to inspiration and peace.
