Seminary Guides
Welcome seminarian! Congratulations on answering the call! Now, you must select a Seminary Guide to accompany you on the journey.
What is a Seminary Guide?
A Seminary Guide in the Tree of Life Seminary Program is an ordained Tree of Life Interfaith Minister and a Certified Spiritual Mentor from a Tree of Life Interfaith Temple sponsored program or from another professional program as approved by the Tree of Life Interfaith Temple who has journeyed through the seminary and is now willing and able to use their experience to support other spiritual seekers.
What is the role of a Seminary Guide?
Your spiritual guide offers loving guidance throughout your program. This involves feedback on your written assignments and one-on-one sessions to answer questions or process your experience. However, it is important to note that your guide is not a trained psychotherapist. Their role is to be your guide through the seminary program.
Your guide will help you to establish a spiritual practice, and assist you in the development of the self-designed portion of the program to explore your specific interests. The guide is someone who offers a deep listening presence as you excavate, experience and embrace your inner journey.
Who are the Seminary Guides?
Our guides are from a wide variety of professions, faith traditions and life experiences. Each is committed to seeking continued personal, spiritual growth. We have come forward to serve others because of our deep confidence in the Seminary Program.
How do I choose a Seminary Guide?
It is very important that each seminarian feel comfortable and inspired by their guide. Here's the process:

How do I choose a Seminary Guide?
It is very important that each seminarian feel comfortable and inspired by their guide. Here's the process:
- Choose a minimum of 2 guides from the Seminary Guide Directory that you feel resonate with you.
- Contact Rev. Ahjan Grossman, Seminary Program Coordinator, to discuss your choices. She will assist you in narrowing your choices down to one Guide.
- You will be given contact information to set up an introductory discussion with your chosen guide. Together, the two of you will decide if it is a good match.

Rev. Carol LaChance, Seminary Program Coordinator
As I think about being the Program Coordinator for the Tree of Life Interfaith Seminary, the words of Thicht Nhat Hahn, a Vietnamese Buddhist, resonate with me: “Dear One, I am here for you.” My experience in seminary changed my life. I was gifted with a Spiritual Guide who supported me through all the challenges and joys of finding my inner treasure, and I look forward to assisting seminarian and Guide as together they excavate, experience and embrace the Love within. |
Rev. Linda Goodman
As one who has enjoyed a long life journey on a spiritual path that has wound through many spiritual traditions, I offer my knowledge and experience in interfaith practices. I will help you create and follow the path of your choosing through the personalized part of the seminary curriculum. |
Rev. Jan (Ahjan) Grossman
I am a listener. Through deep and sacred holding I hope to assist with the inner unfurling of Love and Spirit within each, unleashing a worthy and self-assured being to serve in this world. My own issues with worthiness, surrender and self-imposed obstacles have challenged and taught me much, allowing for first hand understanding and empathy. I delight in knowing the divine that is hidden behind our humanity. I relish inquiry. Consciousness and metaphysics pique my curiosity. |
