A mystic touch is something you can't explain, only experience.  That's the personal experience.  On the collective level mysticism is the antidote to fundamentalism.  The mystics have always been with us throughout the ages.  I believe what Karl Rahner from the 12th century says, "the Christian of the future will be a mystic or will not exist."
