10:00-11:00am ET ~ Living with Gratefulness ~ with guest speaker Cathy Parker Please email [email protected] to request the zoom link, or come in person. Everyone agrees that gratefulness is a good thing. Religions of all kinds speak of the importance of being grateful. Science tells us that it is good for our health. The self-help community can’t stop talking about the benefits. Yet we still struggle with it. Gratefulness is both simple and difficult. At this service we will look at the benefits, the landmines and a few basic practices for living a more grateful life. About the Presenter: Cathy Parker is a Spiritual Mentor and a Life Coach. She completed the Spiritual Mentoring certificate program here at the Temple last June. She is extremely grateful to that program for connecting her with this community. |

10:00-11:00am ET ~ Joy and Suffering, Suffering and Joy with Rev. Carrie Ives Please email [email protected] to request the zoom link, or come in person. Can we claim - even foster - joy during a time of turmoil? During a time of stress? During a time when many people - including myself - have said “the world is a dumpster fire”? Is joy during suffering insensitive or even delusional? Or is it a calling, a resistance, or a required response? Let’s explore together. About the presenter: Carrie is a lover of spirituality — as a student, teacher, workshop leader, practitioner, and researcher. Her thesis has been recently published (!), which, among other things, points out the value of interfaith community for those with physical and mental illness. She is seeking joy in these times. |
